A dilapidated family home required repairing, updating and altering to meet the developing healthcare needs of one of the principal clients, and to accommodate three generations together -at the same time resolving various requirements for privacy, independence, family gathering and entertaining.

A new fully self-contained flat slides under the existing house, cutting into the slope, then wraps out and around to create a sheltered shared family courtyard.

Its roof forms a large deck adjoining the living areas of the house over, making a generous outdoor entertaining space with extensive city and river views.

The original house was renovated, with spaces opened out and re-focused towards the rear, with it’s light, views and extended family spaces.
